OVERVIEW
Izuki Shun is Seirin's starting point guard and vice-captain. Cool-headed on the court and endlessly devoted to puns off it, Izuki is the team's "control tower," organizing Seirin's run-and-gun offense with patient reads, sharp steals, and perfectly timed passes.
He has played basketball longer than anyone else at Seirin, starting in second grade, and followed Hyūga to a school with no team rather than abandon his friend. His signature Eagle Eye lets him see the court from above, while the later Eagle Spear steal—learned from Aida Kagetora—lets him stop high-speed drives without turning his body.
NAME ETYMOLOGY
Izuki (伊月): The kanji 伊 (I) is a phonetic prefix, while 月 (Tsuki / Zuki) means "moon."
Seirin Naming Pattern: Following a hidden theme where Seirin's core roster members feature a day of the week in their surnames, Izuki's 月 represents Monday (月曜日, Getsuyōbi), pairing him with Hyūga's Sunday sun.
Shun (俊): The kanji means "talented" or "handsome," matching both his court IQ and the running gag that he is "disappointing but good-looking."

OFFICIAL KUROFES INTERVIEW
Source: KuroFes Official Fanbook | Interviewer: Kuroko Tetsuya
Q1: [Appearing suddenly out of nowhere] Izuki-senpai, congratulations on taking third place [in the point guard poll]. How do you feel right now?
Izuki: (Not surprised) Thanks, I'm happy with 3rd place... Ah! Kuroko, since you're here, what do you think?
Q2: What do you think is your greatest strength?
Izuki: ...You ignored me... My strong point... hmmm, maybe how I will do something to the end once I've decided on it.
Q3: So, is there anything you would like to improve upon in the future?
Izuki: Well, because of that, Hyūga and the others say I'm a bit too stubborn. ...And maybe I could make my eyes look a little sharper - I might look stronger that way.
Q4: Who is the opponent you hate losing to the most?
Izuki: There are many players better than me, and I'm aware of that, but I feel that as a team I don't want to lose to anyone.
Q5: Please say a few words about the results of the Winter Cup?
Izuki: It was the best. I think it'll remain in my memories the rest of my life.
Q6: This is personal, but you coordinate with me more than the others during a match. How do you feel about my passes?
Izuki: At first it was a little difficult, but once I got used to it, I could put the ball into places and at timings that I couldn't manage on my own. You really are someone I can rely on.
Q7: You're known as the 'disappointing handsome guy,' Izuki-senpai. How many fan letters have you received so far?
Izuki: Being called handsome makes me happy, but... huh? What part of me is 'disappointing'...? Fan letters... I get them once in a blue moon. Sometimes I'll have a conversation with someone, and then... that's it - nothing more comes of it. ...Did I say something wrong, I wonder?
Q8: Please give us a pun that won't suck.
Izuki: It'll won't suck! Though my skin is silky smooth!
[PUN: Kuroko asks for a "dajare" (pun) that won't "suberu" (fall flat/bomb). Izuki replies with "subesube" (smooth/silky), referring to his skin. This is playing on the fact that "subesube" sounds like "suberu"]
Q9: Please tell us your goals for the future.
Izuki: Next year will probably be more difficult, but we still haven't made it to the Inter-high, and I want to do my best so we can win the Winter Cup again too.
Q10: Please give a message to your fans.
Izuki: Thank you for 3rd place in the PG category! Everyone who voted for me, you're all great!
