TECHNIQUE OVERVIEW
Eagle Spear is the steal Kagetora taught Izuki once Eagle Eye stopped being enough. Seeing the drive is useless if the opponent still walks by. The Spear is a timed poke at the ball — not a reach, a stab — on the exact frame the handler commits. Eye finds the lane. Spear takes the ball.
CORE MECHANICS
- Commit Window: Izuki waits until the handler's dribble is already going one direction, then pokes through the gap.
- Eye + Hand: Without Eagle Eye the Spear is a foul. The steal only works because the read arrives a beat early.
- Trap Setup: Against Hayama it is used with help, not as a solo island. The Spear is the closer, not the whole defense.
LIMITATIONS & RISKS
- Reach Foul: Miss the window and it is a swipe, not a steal. High-level handlers bait the Spear on purpose.
- Raw Speed: Kasamatsu can still beat the first step and force Izuki to tap a loose ball instead of taking it clean.
- Five Fingers: Hayama's full Lightning Dribble is faster than one read. Kagami has to take the rest.
KEY MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- Seirin vs. Kaijō (Winter Cup Semifinals): Debut. Izuki intercepts Kasamatsu after the captain had already blown by him once on speed alone.
- Same match, third quarter: Kasamatsu drives again, Izuki gets a piece, and the loose ball still becomes a Kaijō putback. The Spear is not a guarantee.
- Seirin vs. Rakuzan: Paired with Eagle Eye to slow Hayama's first crossovers before the five-finger set arrives.
