OVERVIEW

Hanamiya Makoto is Kirisaki Daiichi's second-year point guard, captain, and player-coach — Uncrowned King "Bad Boy." At 179 cm, 67 kg, and with an IQ well over 160, he smiles like a sportsman until the whistle, then runs a system built to injure, steal, and break the other bench.

During last year's Interhigh prelims, he signed the delayed jump that wrecked Kiyoshi Teppei's knee. This year the Spider's Web nearly shuts Seirin down until Kuroko rewrites the passing lanes.

NAME ETYMOLOGY

Hanamiya (花宮): The kanji 花 (Hana) means "flower, blossom" and 宮 (Miya) means "shrine, palace."

Kirisaki Naming Pattern: Following a hidden theme where Kirisaki's core roster members are named after hospitals in Japan, 花宮病院 (Hanamiya Hospital) is in Yamaguchi.

Uncrowned Kings Naming Pattern: Following a hidden theme where the Uncrowned Kings are named after things found in nature — flowers, nuts, seeds, roots — Hanamiya's 花 is "flower."

Makoto (真): The kanji 真 (Makoto) means "truth, genuine." Together the name reads as "flowery truth" — the opposite of how he plays.
