VISUAL DEMONSTRATION: THE PLAY THAT WAITS
TECHNIQUE OVERVIEW
The Right of Postponement is Kiyoshi Teppei's habit of not finishing the first option. He gathers, holds the defender in the air, and only then decides — drop-step, kick-out, or putback. The Iron Heart does not rush the paint. He makes the help choose, then punishes the choice.
CORE MECHANICS
- Large hands: Kiyoshi's large hands mean that he can change what move he is doing after a normal person would have released the ball.
- Pass Out of the Post: Hyūga's threes and Izuki's cuts are often the postponed finish. The paint is a hub, not just a dump.
LIMITATIONS & RISKS
- The Knee: Every extra second in the air is extra load. Against Murasakibara and Nebuya the postpone is also what empties the tank.
- Triple Teams: The opposition can send three bodies. There is no postponed option if every outlet is covered.
KEY MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- Seirin vs. Shūtoku II: Tournament return. The postpone gives Seirin an interior hub they did not have in the Interhigh rematch.
- Seirin vs. Rakuzan: Kiyoshi matches Nebuya in the paint by refusing the first collision and playing the second one.
