OVERVIEW

Okamura Kenichi is Yōsen High's third-year power forward and captain. He is 200 cm, 98 kg, and has a cleft chin, and sideburns his teammates will not leave alone. His teamates tease him for that chin until he cries — he is easy to move, and they know it.

On the court he is the reliable post of Yōsen's Aegis Shield, using his enormous build nad physical strength to dominate the low post. He is a dedicated member who takes his responsibilities as captain seriously.

NAME ETYMOLOGY

Okamura (岡村): The kanji 岡 (Oka) means "hill" and 村 (Mura) means "village."

Yōsen Naming Pattern: Following a hidden theme where Yōsen's roster members share names with ramen chefs and restaurants in Japan — a food theme that fits Murasakibara's appetite — Okamura Noodle House is a shop name used in more than one place. His nickname Gorilla may also nod to Fukui's shop, Extreme Servings Ramen Gorilla.

Kenichi (健一): The kanji 健 (Ken) means "healthy" or "strong," and 一 (Ichi) means "one."
