OVERVIEW
Koganei Shinji is Seirin's second-year small forward and the team's loudest mood-maker. Spiky hair, a cat-shaped mouth, and a habit of speaking too loudly make him easy to spot on the bench—and easy to underestimate on the floor.
Nicknamed the Jack of No Trades, he can shoot from any range with only average accuracy, play any position at a basic level, and still throw himself at Uncrowned Kings. He started basketball after watching Mitobe, almost quit during Riko's first training block, and cried after Seirin's Inter-High elimination—the moment he realized he no longer wanted to walk away.
NAME ETYMOLOGY
Koganei (小金井): The kanji 小 (Ko) means "small," 金 (Kane) means "gold" or "metal," and 井 (I) means "well."
Seirin Naming Pattern: Following a hidden theme where Seirin's core roster members feature a day of the week in their surnames, Koganei's 金 represents Friday (金曜日, Kin'yōbi).
Shinji (真司): The kanji 真 (Shin) means "true" or "genuine," and 司 (Ji) means "to administer." Teammates usually just call him Koga.
