OVERVIEW

Iwamura Tsutomu is Seihō High's captain and starting center. At 187 cm and 87 kg he is the physical anchor of Tokyo's traditional defensive king, pairing post strength with the same Namba footwork the whole roster uses to stay on its feet late in games.

He is blunt, loud, and proud of Seihō's identity. Against Seirin he talks up Tsugawa's pressure defense and treats the Inter-High qualifier as a test of who still deserves the Tokyo throne. After Seihō falls, he is the one who has to drag a furious Tsugawa off the floor.

NAME ETYMOLOGY

Iwamura (岩村): The kanji 岩 (Iwa) means "rock" and 村 (Mura) means "village" — a hard name for a captain who wants his paint to feel like stone.

Tsutomu (努): The kanji means "to strive" or "to make an effort."
