Satō Takuo is Rakuzan High's assistant coach under Shirogane Eiji. He is the second voice on the most decorated high-school bench in the country — clipboards, substitutions, and the unglamorous half of running a team that already has Akashi.

NAME ETYMOLOGY

Satō (佐藤): The most common Japanese surname. The kanji 佐 means "assist" — almost too on-the-nose for an assistant coach — and 藤 means "wisteria."

Takuo (拓生): The kanji 拓 (Taku) means "to open up" and 生 means "life."
